(1) Now
let us turn to the most beautiful and poetic part of ancient Hindu philosophy.
The great god almighty of the universe ruling over the universe —of billions of
galaxies containing billions of suns and billions of planets— is called in
Hindu philosophy as Lord Vishnu( the great administrator). He is also is
seen in two other forms known in Hindu philosophy by the names Lord
Brahma( the great creator) and Lord Shiva( the great destroyer). As
everybody and even a child can imagine, god almighty has unlimited mystic
powers which we can not understand and comprehend. He can exist in any form he
likes and can also appear in more than one form at the same time. These
three great gods live in their majestic individual high heavens.
(2) Lord Vishnu is the grand administrator of
the Universe and takes up the duties of protecting the universe immediately
after it is created by Lord Brahma. He lives in invisible gold and crystal
palaces in the clouds amid all pleasures. But he is most kind and loving and
always comes to the rescue of poorest and weakest people and considers it his
privilege to serve poor helpless people. This is one of the three sublime
forms.
On a signal from Lord Vishnu, the entire
universe is created by Lord Brahma. Lord Vishnu takes over and rules over the
universe for a thousand billion years in a most loving way like the kindest
father. Not a single good person is left unrewarded and not a single bad person
is left unpunished. Lord Vishnu also periodically incarnates himself on planet
earth as a divine human being of titanic strength to kill the wickedest
villains and establish high virtue and high morality.
(3) Lord Brahma completes the entire creation
process –creation of not only all living beings and nonliving things from the
minutest to the most colossal— in a second. He then puts the “Divine Soul” in
every living being. His majestic heaven is full of holy spirituality, holy
learning and holy philosophy. After the creation process is completed he
retires to his high heaven of learning and wisdom and spirituality and rules
there for a thousand billion years.
(4) In due course, millions of years and
thousands of billions of years of time passes by. All the energy, the “e=m(c
squared) energy”, of the existing universe slowly gets exhausted. At this stage
Lord Vishnu signals to Lord Shiva to act. The old crumbling universe is
destroyed in a jiffy without sound and without trace by Lord Shiva the third
form of almighty of universe. After that the great Lord Shiva too retires to
his separate invisible heaven in the wildest and coldest Himalayan heights for
a thousand billions years. There he is immersed in spiritual meditation and is
surrounded by great sages and other gods .
He too like Lord Vishnu is extremely
kind and loving and gives to people whatever they ask. He is said to be so kind
that sometimes by mistake he helps also some wrong persons and falls into their
traps. Lord Vishnu has to assist Lord Shiva to come out of these traps and
requests him not to fall into such traps again! Lord Shiva is not interested in
worldly pleasures and comforts. He prefers to live amidst most beautiful wild
nature spots like mountains, seas, rivers and forests. He is viewed like a
youthful handsome sage and like a beautiful forest hunter ever in deep
meditation thinking about the deep mysteries of the universe.
(5)The queens of the three great gods are as
dazzling and powerful as the great gods themselves. “Goddess Laxmi” (queen of
Lord Vishnu) is source of all Wealth of universe. But if any poor weak human
being prays to her she gives limitless wealth to him in an instant as if that
person who prayed is her own son. Goddess “Saraswathi” (queen of
Lord Brahma) is seen as a most delicate, scholarly and art-conscious goddess
and the very incarnation of education, music and all fine arts. Her heaven is
considered the most beautiful spot in the universe. Goddess “Parvathi” is the
queen of Lord Shiva. Though Lord Shiva lives like a hermit , the great goddess
Parvathi lives in all luxury in invisible golden palaces in the recesses of
Himalayan mountains . She is considered as the incarnation of all
the “Energy” of the universe, the “E=m(c squared)energy” .
All the three goddesses are treated as forms
of the same Mother of the Universe.
